Keeps 403
Indie hurt himself out on a walk a couple of days ago so its no ferreting for him for a few weeks till he gets himself put right. We decided to dust down the nets and take the terriers with us to a steep gill with a stream running through the bottom. This is one of the most difficult places we have ferreted, its almost vertical in places where standing up isnt easy let alone setting nets We were out last night and came home to the neighbours having a party and making a lot of noise at silly hour in the morning :grrr: so a bit bleary eyed, we slept in  Had to call and see the keeper first, as we had a few things we needed to sort out. We got chatting to him and found out he has a few rats around the farm, for which we are going to call in with a few terriers next weekend, before we do a bit of ferreting :clapping: Left there with 3 brace of partridge, 2 brace of pheasie and a woodcock and set off to get started ferreting - better late than never Well to say it was slow was an understatement, once we got to the bit were had planned to do, we laid a few nets, I forgot what a pain they are In fact they were such a pain we gave up on them The wind was quite wild and it was hard to hear the knocker box at all, the rabbits didnt want to bolt either  but the dogs didnt seem to mind. Ellie came back with another pheasie to add to the 2 brace we had been given  but the rabbits were few and far between. Even if Indie had been with us it would have been no different today, they just werent around, just one of of those days. The dogs all enjoyed it in any case, better than a walk and little Bear was the star of the day, very steady marking whilst Ellie just wanted wander off and hunt on her own. A few pics, mostly standing about posey ones, as thats about all they did today one of the youngsters, on her second time out the only action shot of the day and off they went home time We didnt go back empty handed though, we had our small bag, the birds from the keeper, a bit of ratting and an invite to the beaters day shoot Might put the nets back in the cupboard Quote Link to post
