Greb147 6,810
I must watch golf about once every 5 years or so but I've just read the voice of the sport Peter Alliss has died. Listening to him chat away was enough to put anyone at ease, surely one of the longest running commentators in any sport?
pesky1972 5,645
Reckon the closest to golf most on here get is mooching round a course looking for a few rabbits, but regardless of your views on golf, we should probably all lament at least a wee bit, the passing of Peter Alliss. He wasn’t afraid to speak his mind, and had it not been for his age, he’d probably have been side-lined by now by the big broadcasters in favour of some black lesbian who knew 1/1000th of what he knew about golf and golfers, and had even less than that of his charisma and integrity. RIP Peter, a great golfer and commentator, and one of the last of a dying breed.

RIP Peter, a great golfer and commentator, and one of the last of a dying breed. Having attempted to play a few times over the years I can appreciate how good top players must be as it's massively difficult. I'm that bad I've been known to hit the tin roof in the cubicle of a driving range, it hooks you because every so often you will hit a sweet shot that almost looks pro. In reality though it was just a fluke and you soon go back to being shite. He was a great commentator though and the sport will sorely miss him. Speaking of commentators, shame on the BBC for not making a tribute to Willie Thorne after his passing this year, about sums them up.
