Guest whippet
I've put a few shots through the hunter version in .223, seems pretty nice. I'd go for it, although ask to put a few rounds onto a target first to make sure you ain't getting a dud one. Edit: Just saw that you're buying it from a very good friend, they wouldn't knowingly sell you an innacurate gun. :friends: Quote Link to post
FOXHUNTER 5,021
Ive got a T3 but in .243 calibre. Brilliant rifle and very accurate. I would stongly recommend buying one Quote Link to post
Guest baldie
Ask how many shots its fired, if its around 2000, its on its way to being shot out, the 22-250 is a barrel burner.I was shooting a t3 varmint in 6.5 x 55 the other day, very nice rifle. Quote Link to post

kiwi 4
2000 rds is i abit of a scare tactic baldie :11: if the barrels cleaned after each session the rifle should be good for a few thousand more at least, taking into account it takes a few hundred rounds to break in a stainless tube that leaves bugger all to actually go hunting with over the life of the rifle, the 22.250 does wear them out sooner than a .223 sure but depends on [bANNED TEXT] the rifle is getting used for, target/paper shooters tend to call a rifle that groups sub moa good but after is starts grouping slightly over that buggered but for sniping bunnies they still do the job, we have a sako 22.250 that has seen well over the 2 grand mark and is still putting them into bull at 250m. looked after the rifle should out last the hunter. the use of mild loads will make the rifle last even longer foxy as i think thats what you will be using in your t3 with the mod on. Guest baldie
Yes mate you are quite right, i was talking from a target shooters accuracy needs, i should have said so, as you rightly say, hot loads will burn it out faster, but whats the point of having a 22-250, and running it at 223 velocities? The 243 is the same cramp as the 22-250, they are both "overbored" so tend to burn barrels, a deerstalker, unless he was extremely busy would be unlikely to burn out a barrel in half a lifetime? but someone shooting prairie dogs in the states could finish that barrel in a season, if he had access to some good dog towns, you get my drift?Oddly enough , both my guns dont like particularly hot loads [223 and 204] so my barrels should last, luckily, because the uk must be the most expensive place in the world for a re barreling job, the yanks dont think twice about it.Good luck with it mate Quote Link to post
