YOKEL 2,388
Blast from the past. Pretty sure you know tibbsy, George (Bayliss) was my old boxing coach, his son just posted this up on his facebook page, thought it might interest yourself. apparently they fought twice, both winning one and losing one. Old george is a bit of a local celebrity amongst a certain crowd round these parts... Yokel
gnasher16 31,607
Excellent nice one... his name doesnt ring a bell and ive heard all Jimmys tales a million times over ....he always used to go on about the year he got to the junior aba finals and one of the lads he beat easily went to the Olympics instead of him it would be funny if it was your mates dad i,ll have to ask him.....i was only young at the time but he was coming through at the same time as the heavyweight Billy Walker another local lad so there was a lot of enthusiasm for them ....Jimmy was a good fighter a lot of old boys ive spoke to over the years reckon he could of picked up a British Title at least. Anyway good little find that thanks mate Edited May 16, 2020 by gnasher16
YOKEL 2,388
George is a scouser but he's lived down here since before i was born, both his boys were/are tidy fighters but HMP has hampered any real progress....old George made the local news a few years back when three eastern european types tried to relieve him of his pension money as he left the post office...sparked two out cold and the third was last seen running for the hills! gnasher16 31,607
Unfortunately thats the way with many lads of our generation who just didnt get the protection that talented fighters get these days....if you was a good young fighter from certain areas back then and you was willing to earn a crooked pound note you got pulled in different directions and naturally your career stalled.......dedications the key i suppose.....he sounds a good sort though the ol boy i dont think you ever lose the ability to deliver a punch....just the ability to run after people
