jasper65 6
Private makes it impossible to view any boards without logging in or becoming a member, all boards will be locked to anyone unless they're members either paying on none paying... Open is pretty much how it is now! some forums are locked and can't be viewed by guests but there are some like the General forum and a few others which can be by any tom dick or harry on the net... Personaly I would like it private! I know we have nothing to hide but why should any other nob be able to read some of the boards without being a member, having said that most of the main boards are closed..... Deker 3,478
I think locked and serious vetting but..... I don't think it will make any difference unless you are VERY VERY VERY STRICT with membership arrangements and checking but that will be almost impossible so seems a bit of a waste of time when it only takes a couple of minutes to become a member. The world is too easy to crack and in the end what benefit could a locked forum actually achieve?
jasper65 6
I know what you're saying Deker and I agree! its good that the specialiist forums are locked cause why should people be able to view topics and pick up top imformation without being a member and socialiseing with other people from the Hunting faternity. The other thing is if the General forum <which basicaly means any posts can apply to this section> is open for all to see, then I think alot of none Hunting people are getting the wrong end of the stick! they're view this section where 99% of posts are none Hunting related and think "Yep I'll join this site" and they use it like a chat line for all sorts of crap, I'm not slagging the General forum up as I think its good for people to use for other topics but personaly I think it should be closed... ChrisJones 7,975
There is and will never be a private forum. It's impossible. If you want to feel safe and secure, don't post.

Thats true Chris but posting by the gennuine members isn't the problem weather its private or not. its just the Minority of new posters that seem hell bent on f*****g it up for the rest. they're not even like minded Hunting folk so why the f**k they're on here kills me, the way I read into it mate is that locking the forum would help keep out the none Hunting Nobs, chat line Numpties and Gobshites to make life a bit easier for the Mods and everyone else? I'm probably wrong but thats how I read into it ..... Jasper

I'm probably wrong but thats how I read into it ..... Jasper I hear ya Jasper but how do you sift through the shit? With the sheer amount of posts going in, on a daily basis, the mods can't keep up. This forum is at the top of most search engines and with that comes notoriety for which ever reason you care to go into. Locking a forum as big as this would be zero change in what it is now. It just means that you have to go through an extra screen. I read alot more than I post these days because of the political situation in the UK. There are a vast number of people here that aren't hunters. Will never be hunters, and are here with a separate agenda. Private boards will never keep them out and with the sheer number of members here they're already well established and pursuing their chosen agenda. If you wiped everyone from scratch, started a new board, and vetted everyone that came on, you would still have a high proportion of trouble causers both visible and invisible because it's the very nature of the Internet. I wont vote but if this was a private forum we would not have the calibre of member's we have today.. ..And i know the price of a open forum comes with % of the member's being crank's but it's worth it for all the good reading posted for the none crank's who arrived as none member's.. .. I WOULD like this place private but it will not happen and is not practical but what i would love too see is mod's given more power.. ..so they can bin the nugget's straight away with no question's asked.. or the nugget's could be quarenteened till the Admin takes a good look at them in his own time.. That way a problem NUGGET can be dealt with quicker thus relieving stress from other sensible folk.. Millet P.S My vote is private.. .. I actually agree with that. Mods need bigger guns. Step on them from a great height and ban people from the forum. If people aren't going to behave themselves then there needs to be a framework to get rid of them. No public debate just action because this forum has been sliding down the sh*t pan for far too long.
