TULLYLISH DOG SHOW  AND RACE DAY SUNDAY 25TH AUGUST 19

As this was the last working dog show of the year, we were up with the lark on Sunday morning, and very soon on our way to the now annual Tullylish Dog Show and Raceday. The sun was beamimg down as we made our way through the leafy countryside of County Down and to the beautiful picturesque village of Lawrencetown. This was the superb venue for the Tullylish Dog show and Race day, and what a day we had.

This was one of the best venues for a show that I have been to this year, with  ringside parking, well spaced out rings and a good heavy up hill race track. The weather displayed what a good summers day should be, a scorcher, and this no doubt brought the crowds out to full capacity. The children were bouncing about enjoying themselves in the mid-day sun, while the older folk were stretching themselves out on the grass taking in the rays.

From early morning, cars and trailers arrived from North and South of the border, with families and dogs in tow. There was a Burger van with very tasty food, Hospitality Trailer for a few bevvys, and Toilet facilities on site.

As the show progressed, so did the banter and the craic. It was nice to meet up with so many regular show goers and also some new ones, all out for a good days enjoyment before the long cold days of winter come upon us. And that they done whole heartedly. No matter how many shows I have went to over the years, and there have been many, I still meet and make new friends. What a lovely job this can be.

Time moves swiftly on and very soon it was Showing and Racing Time.

Here are some Showing and Racing Results.

NI Champion of Champions Judges

Whippets : Tom Barry/Lurchers : Thomas Coleman/Terriers : Roy Nixon

Judging is not an easy job, but you all carried out your duties very fair and to perfection. Some cracking photographs up on Facebook at the moment. It is nice to have them to look back on when the snow hits the window.

And Finally Finally, I always save the best to last, and in this case I really mean the best. To the organisers John Barry and Paul Mc Alinden and your back up team, you produced a first class show with impeccable skill and organisation and pulled out all the stops to make your show a memorable day full of excitement and enjoyment for everyone. Every part of your show went like clockwork. Well done and a credit to all involved.

Now Folks I must go, as I have an appointment in the next couple of weeks with Mr Foxy at his digging school to hone up some more skills in my old age. He has promised me a few good digs geared for pensioners.

To we meet again God bless, and keep safe over the winter, and I look forward to meeting up with you all again in March 2020.

A Tribute to the late John Shaw who passed away  last Thursday 6th November 25

      I Am Free
Do not grieve for me now my  friends and family, I am free
I am following the path God Laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
To Love, to live, to hunt, to show my treasured Whippets, or play.
I found a peace at close of day.
Be not burdened with the times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Do not lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts my friends and share with me
      God wanted me now,
      He set me free.
John, we will love you forever and you will be sadly missed by your loving family and all your Country Sporting Fraternity and in the show ring.
May the Angels above give you the best seat in Heaven and may your gentle soul rest in peace.
      For Country Sports Fraternity
