Kane 2
Good question brock,a lot depends on the weather conditions and of course on how much the local fox population has been harrassed.Where I live the foxes are town foxes and are generaly left alone so are fairly simple to call, but even so you still cant take liberties with the wind etc still got to use fieldcraft.Ive used a lot of different calls but for me Ive found that hand calling or the mouse squeeker rather than rabbit squeeker works best. But however good the caller or however expensive the call it still wont replace fieldcraft. Now personaly I preffer a night with no or as little wind as possable the foxes generaly come to the call rather than trying to work down wind of the call.If you get a good thick hedge behind you or a thin hedge infront of you that will help to hide your out line a bit. But even then some foxes are naturaly very wary where others seem to bounce up to you like pups.Practice makes perfect.I like most others have favourite fields or areas that always seem to turn up the goods,my favourite place is 2 big fields one bordered by a busy road both field seperated by a hedge,I walk halfway up the hedge make myself comftable wait a minute then start calling, give it 30 seconds and more times than not foxy is making his way from the road to me.But even for this place the wind has to be right and you cant afford to make to much noise. Guest Doug
Can't give an average - it depends on so many factors but most of all whether the fox has been lamped before. Quote Link to post
