mackem 30,055
This happened just round the corner, few streets away,RPSCA don't seem to understand foot-holds are illegal.Massive numbers of fox in the neighbourhood but this is someone bought a cheap couple of traps from e-bay china. Share to WhatsAppShare to TwitterTwitterShare to Messenger The RSPCA have questioned the legality of spring traps after trying in vain to save a trapped fox in Surrey. Animal welfare officers were called to a house in Sunbury-on-Thames on Saturday (15 September) by a member of the public who had discovered the fox cowering in bushes at the end of his garden. On closer inspection it was revealed it had become tangled in two spring traps and despite being rushed to the Wildlife Aid Foundation in Leatherhead, the decision was made to put it to sleep because its injuries were too severe. RSPCA animal welfare officer Carl Hone said: "He has been left to die slowly, in agony. No animal should suffer like that.” "During his attempt to escape the fox had damaged the fence and scrambled through a gap but, due to the trailing traps, had got trapped and couldn’t move any further." The use of spring traps is not illegal but their use is controlled and there are strict conditions on setting traps, not setting them in the right way can be an offence. Mr Hone added: "When you imagine the pain this poor fox must have suffered due to these awful traps it does make you question the legality around their use. "The fox couldn’t have travelled far with these two traps being trailed behind so I’m appealing to any locals who may have information about who is responsible for setting these awful traps.” Quote Link to post
Phil Lloyd 10,739
Both items, shit, rubbish traps, copied and constructed, by folk who have no comprehension of animal suffering or welfare. As a trapping concept, the foot-hold is an efficient tool...the 'cushion catch', rubber jawed examples hold their captive firmly, but without inflicting needless cruelty. Unfortunately,..the ease in which folk can purchase items off the Internet, will often allow such indiscriminate behavior to occur... 4 Quote Link to post
