odd combination

I was thinking ( :11: ) I have talked to some guys who tried great dane crosses on boars but found them to rough. anyone here try a great dane/greyhound cross. Even if you haven't what's your opinion on a cross like this?

Or a greyhound/ridgeback cross? or.........................

Enough crap being bred already,breeding should be based on results and practicality in the field......the lurcher world is already swamped with unfortunate unwanted dogs...it doesnt need more rejects from some dreamers kennel.....JMO.

I have a greyhound/bull/ridgeback and believe me there is nothing wrong with her.She was bought as a pup because both parents were exceptional workers and just happened to be this mixture not bought because of the breed mixture.Her only quirk being she is not good around strangers.

I Have A Ridgeback X Whippet an she is more of a fox and deer than a rabbit and hare dog but by mine there is no deer and i cant travek far as i am only 12 :11: i would say the dog is fairly fast and same here the dog isnt too good with strangers

I have no intention of breeding these dogs, was just thinking what would these breeds create. You can see the ridgeback seems to add mistrust of strangers (something I think the breed was bred for) but the ridgeback ws also used as a sight hound in southern africa. I say "was" because I think they are too trendy to be able to find a good working dog now adays. samrthing for great danes, originally bred for boar hunting but the beauty contests seem to have ruined that.

For a real bad combination try Argentine Dogo dogs. Their prey drive is so strong they eat what ever they catch.

ya right about the dogo, but my one never munched down on what we caught, i think in argentina of old they were left to feed themselves, they are still a working breed thats all that matters now, the ridgeback is not a sight hound it is a tracking/baying/bailing dog hunted in packs to corner lions, some ridgeback crosses are ok but as a norm they suck, danes are good to add size to a dog and the cross breeding can bring out the boardog that once was there, we have a 1/4 dane cross that is going well.
