Hows your season going?

Just wondering how is your season going in terms of catch rates etc?

 

I am adveraging about 4-5 a day, pretty shoddy by most standards but for the few acres that I do, it isnt that bad

 

We were hit hard with mixy at the tail end of summer, walking the dogs I would find a few dead rabbits evereytime out and alot of rotten smelling bushes. But it seems to have caled down quite alot since, we havent had a mixy in the last 25 odd rabbits we taken.

We have had some good days this season not huge amounts of rabbits but good days never the less 25 being the biggest bag so far

Ive only been out twice,, Since ive been busy with shootdays and all that,, Im going to get out on some permission that i need to go as soon as possilbe so im going to ring around and see if i can get up there for sunday or tommorow!!

But im looking forward to getting out on that ground as soon as possible as its got some nice warrens agmost the hedgerows and getting some proper ferreting done

Im way down on my catch rate this season, due to mxy and other greedy gits.

But, i still love getting out and doing a bit.

I seem to average 3 per sesh only got 2 last Sunday & nearly had to dig 1 out however she decided to come out when she heard the spade working.Hoping to hit them hard in the new year when my ferretting partner is back as he has had no time off on the run in to Xmas .Personally i,m happy if i get 1 just as i am when i go fishing not that has happend much in the last couple of winters

Best season ever but mostly with the guns we where hitting 50/70 a week from my work but i didn't mind that because it doesn't affect my ferreting . still got a wee bit of ferreting to do then i will tidy up with the traps and snares

Bit slow to be honest, first season since I used to go with my dad & we've got young ferrets. Seems to be just the singles and the odd pair at the moment, and all of our permission seems to be all about brambles, blackthorn, gorse, holes covered with ivy & cover that just won't die back!

 

Never mind though, I'm still loving it!

I know what you meen about the cover! Thing is though, people say it is due to the mild weather, I can tell you we had 1 1/2 weeks of hard solid frost down here. The fishery I work at was frozen solid for the whole time and some days the car thermometer would read -7!!......Yet out last week and there were young nettles out! (those fuckers sting hard!)
