gnipper 6,921
Sounds like she needs hand stripping completely so that the lot grows back evenly and then keep on top of it.

Rocky2 14
my lurcher has a bad coat too and i hand stripped him and he is just went nearly completely bald, and the hair that is growing back can be stripped out too. Is that similar to yours? I feed mostly bones and meat so i must try and change the diet to see if it makes any difference.
skycat 6,174
Bones and meat, or tripe and biscuits alone are probably lacking quite a lot of nutrients, and yes, some dogs do just have bad coats, but until you get the diet absolutely right then you won't know for sure. Not enough fat in the diet can make a coat dry, or interestingly enough, very greasy (don't ask me why!), or fluffy or constantly moulting. Lack of certain vitamins or minerals can also affect the coat. Ditto stress or being unsettled. Ditto a slight allergy to something in the evironment or bedding or the food: the list goes on! Like has already been said: add Keeper's Mix, one Cod liver oil capsule per day or Evening Primrose Oil sometimes helps too, but IMO the biggest contributing factor to a good coat is plenty of animal fat (raw lamb, beef, chicken fat) in the diet. Try it and see.
