terryd 8,954 Posted December 24, 2017 Report Share Posted December 24, 2017 (edited) Kong is the brother to my other hob and just hit 8 months and hasn't been out yet so today I decided to give him a whirl as one of them is getting the snip next year just a question of who. The dog was lame on his toe after yesterday so today was a good opportunity to walk a couple of fields that are surround by a dual carrageway and an A road on the other side. Even on a lead he is a god send. We started walking around the edge and there was scent about but nothing at home. We were nearly done and heading back along the last bit when typically a rabbit hopped out in front of us and nochantly went bounding off across the field. I kept my eyes on him and watched him go to ground in some holes we had just passed. Big old root system so crossed fingers for no layup. I let the dog check and sure enough he gave a mark. Often rabbits can nip in one side and straight out the other side and slip off. So with out the dog to reply on it was time for some major net deploying. 2 stop nets either side and some purse down. I deliberately tied the dog up short so he didn't take his head off if the rabbit showed his side. So I popped the big fella in and after a bit of dithering about he stayed in. I got on top and couldn't hear a dam thing with the traffic and I couldn't see all around the lump of a tree. Next thing the rabbit bolts right by the dog who made a lunge at it but couldn't quite reach. But no problem it was perfectly pursed or so I thought. By the time I got there it had some how reverse back out of the net and was about to make a run for it. But made the mistake of going the dogs way who with another lunge just managed to grab it by its back foot with just his front teeth. He hung onto it just long enough for me to grab it and saved the day. he was a bit miffed about being tied up at this point lol so first one for the big fella and fun hour out Edited December 24, 2017 by terryd 5 Quote Link to post

Cheers Arry Thanks Arry he was mopping them up on the lamp a treat until he did his toe in. Doubt he will see the lamp again this season.
