Guest little lurcher
if YOU are happy then yes you have done the right thing, if you have the breeding behind and they are what YOU want then why ask , you know you have done it right mate i cant see a reason as to why they wouldnt do the job you have bred them for but others may have a different opinion Quote Link to post
lucky 578
if both the dog and bitch you bred the pups from take the full spectrum of quarry you wish to take with the pups then the answer is....... YES... if they dont then the answer is......NO...... good luck anyway. Quote Link to post
Guest WILF
You wont know for 12 months if you were right or wrong Frank........time will tell Quote Link to post
scar 0
any breeding is a gamble, let them be pups and grow into themselves and mature then you can see.Patience is the key with any of the working breeds Quote Link to post
tinker 3
if your happy then yes. sure they will work great. i bred a pecurliar mix and we kept a pup, hes the best thing since lifes bred and the other owners think so too. p.s (i bred whippet/fox terrier x whippet/grey/staff) i got 22" quick little buggers with loads of drive, rough coats, great legs and brains.) hope they work out for you as well as mine did. merry crimbo Quote Link to post
johnv 0
Dont see anything wrong, and youve kept 2 pups to get a good idea of what the cross is like. Keep us all posted. Quote Link to post
minion 29
For what its worth I think the pups will be fine. Wont be easy to train 2 pups at th same time but good luck to you. If you put th effort in you will get there bud. It can be frustrating at times but I just tell myself the pup will get there!! Quote Link to post
tango 221
a short message ive bred my collie x gray with a deer wheeton gray kept the two pups in between not to big not to small wanting to take just about everything from bunnies to Charlie WAS I WRIGHT? if you let them take their time no reason why not mate ,if they please you thats all that matters . i always find 2 pups are easier reared up but can take a little longer to train. just my five pence worth, very best of luck with them mate Edited December 19, 2007 by tango Quote Link to post
Simoman 110
Only time will tell Frank but if you have bred the litter and kept pups back its a little late now to ask "was I right".............. Quote Link to post
Paul in North Lincs 15
best of luck with the pups..................hope they make the grade for you... by the sounds of it they'll make some tough leggy lurchers........should be great the the job. when mixing gene pooles...you never know what you may end up with...Many have tried mixing to create the 'best all round dog'....Some have suceeded............. others have failed........... Once story of success was a friend of mine who crosse a german visla to a grey, and bred that back to a 3/8 5/8 bull grey......what a manaficent looking creature that made...........worked well to as mnetioned........the proof will be in the running.... Guest world.hunters
best of luck with them mate, youv got my pm so you know my views but like others have said you never really 100% no what they will turn out like untill they are older, you could end up with some stocky dogs at the same time they could end up being racier then you would think. i think you have made the right choice in chooseing bitches tho mate as the dogs will be bigger and stockier. good luck with them in the future mate im sure youll be happy with them.
