Aussie Whip 4,307
I've seen dressed wild rabbits in vacuum bag in Coles supermarket $22 aust.Restuarants in my area( country nsw),can't source enough(reckon they have better flavour than farmed, and tourists wan't a taste of the country) but can't buy off hunters due to processing laws.At those prices my dogs and ferrets are eating like kings, but I hate eating them, love hunting them. just done a currancy conversion,,,that $22 is £13.59,,,,,be some money to be earned,,if you could supply the supermarket direct,,,at $10-15 a head,,,,just need a 100-150 rabbits a week for a steady living,,even in oz,,,as its one expencive place to live.. I could probably catch that many if was doing it full time, but have to go through abbatoir and lose profit.I think it takes the enjoyment out of hunting when money comes into it,and becomes more of a chore. It is expensive here but not if you live in the bush, grow your own food and drive an old 4wd.If you like the simple life there's a lot of freedom here to hunt, fish etc.Just stay away from the big cities. 1 Quote Link to post
