terryd 8,972
Great little walk this morning nice and peaceful. First hedge row the dog picked up a bit scent and started checking the hedge out walking back and forward. It was a thick old double fence job and he couldn't get in but kept going back to a section with a few holes. So I decided to run it through. Popped a couple of purse nets down and a couple of stop nets. Wasn't too fussed as I thought it would cut across the corner and the dog could have a run. Turned out to be nothing at home but not to worry. Onto the next hedge then and the dog walk walking along when he suddenly swung to the side and started staring at a hole. He slide in the bramble and gave a positive mark. Thick old black thorn hedge actually mad worse by being flayed as it had all been flattened ontop of the holes. Again a couple of nets down and stop nets the other side. Popped the ferret in and it was quiet for a minute then I heard her bells by the dog who stepped back out the way. Then she went back in and all most straight away a rabbit flew out the same hole well netted. Down the next field then a long old hedge and as it got really thick I gave the old double peep whistle to turn the dog. But he didnt come trotting by me. I looked over me shoulder and he was faffing about sniffing the hedge and kept looking at me to come back. So fair enough I turned round then he got serous and soon had the rabbit tracked to a nice set of holes. Didn't take long and we had rabbit no two bagged so popped his lead on and headed home. Really enjoyed it the dog was cool and calm and on the ball. Forgot me camera so just an end of day with me phone 6 Quote Link to post
