Guest bowland
Dear all New to forum and new to stalking. Got the DSC now need the rifle but to be honest I'm getting some what confused with the conflicting advice. I've decided .243 is my preferred calibre - mostly roe and Sika in oue area. I've looked at Tikka, used Sako, CZ and Steyr. All look great in the shop but the forum advice is so mixed. My total budget for rifle and scope is aroung £1k. Has anyone else been through the pain of this decision ?
FOXHUNTER 5,021
The only advice I can give is buy the best you can afford. A scope is more important than the rifle.I have a .243 and have shot all 6 of our deer species with it , so thats not a problem.Only you can make the decision. Good luck !! SNAP SHOT 194
if your limited to 1000 pound then i would suggest a good secondhand tikka, m595 preferred or t3, or the sako 75, if the rifle comes without scope then get the best set of mounts and scope you can afford, but the money end is the scope, if you buy a good gun and put a cheap scope on then your problems will never be over...........scope and mounts is the most important piece of the kit..... good luck
