Blackdog92 2,047 Posted October 31, 2016 Report Share Posted October 31, 2016 So i got an invite to do a bit of ferreting from the fella i got my ferrets from, we met up at 07:30am and then headed to the spot. It was a big long hedge with fences on each side and as we have not yet had a real hard frost the nettles were still standing strong (i soon realised why he asked me to come) he says you jump in there lad and net up them holes. Well a few stings later and very sore arms and face i finnished netting up. We put a couple long nets up each side for good measures and some stop nets in places we could get one through. Collars on, ferrets in and it didnt take long for the bunnys to start thumping around, then woosh first one in the net then before i could get another net on another came flying out as i was putting the net down it went straight through my legs but was quickly stopped by the lurcher who did very well considering he is still a bit iffy on a back foot since he ripped a claw off. We worked our was slowley up the hedge line accounting for 9 more in the purse's and 1 in a stop net. It was my old dogs first outing since her hip operation in the summer and she was on top form as always, she seems to have a sixth sense when it comes to knowing witch hole the rabbit is going to come out of and she doesnt miss many gently holding them until i come and dispatch them. We carried on up the hedge line and a couple more flew in to the nets. We ended a very enjoyable day on 15, good weather and good company in the great outdoors, you cant beat it.
