More Whippets

Recommended Posts

Just putting a pic up of my too whippets relaxing, the older is out of sooty sam lines (Black and White one) and the little one is 11 1/2 weeks old and came from Frank (shipped over last week), I know that you can't really get a good idea of how he looks from this Pic but its one of his rare still moments and I was impressed with the Photo my wife took (I'm crap at taking pictures of the dogs).

nice dogs there ,how do you find whippets injury wise are they quiet hardy little dogs or easy injured thanks

Zap I have found that the B/W Dog so far has Cut his foot on barbed wire about 6 months ago But not too badly and last week had a pathetic days Ferriting and to top it off he scratched his chest just enough to open the skin by half an inch but to be fair he didn't flinch or even make a sound which I guess makes him hardy enough. I't nearly healed already so no major inconvienience. I haven't lamped with him so I don't know how well he'd stand up to the kind off abuse that cold wet nights and stubble fields can offer.

Their are other people who will give you good advice on whippets on here, but the B/W dog is my first so I wouldn't want to give you an absolute answer...

...but I'll try anyway :D , IMO Whippets are light enough (10-17KG) and quite a few of the working strains (ones that I have come across) have decent sized feet for their size; i'm sure that their is more to it that that but big feet and not carrying as much waight as many crosses has to be a good thing when it comes to running injuries and this was something that got me looking at Whippets in the first place.

Thanks for everyone elses comments Cheers Lud

She looks grand, I'm gonna have to make a bit of time this week to give Balloo some 1on1 time because he really enjoys attention but with having two Whippets in the house Its harder to make that bond, that said his recall is good and he will sit if you stand near him holding anything that will fit in his gob. I'm very pleased with him and have high hopes for him.

Cheers Frank
