Guest bitsa lurcher
ok folks here is a question for you all that have ever had anything to do with using a bull x for DRAWING GAME , now when i say drawing game what i mean is at the end of a dig { pren ban } .......now for me if i was going to buy a dog for such a purpose i would buy a pup , but some of us prefer to buy a ready trained dog , what ever eavh to his/her own .........back to the point ...... today a mate of mine asked me if it was still possible to buy a dog for the purpose of drawing game , and i replied with maybe , at this he was out with the cmw , the local free adds , edrd ....you name it we scanned it with 2 pair of eyes ....... and yes we found a few spoke to a few people and even looked at a couple of dogs locally , which turned out to be a waste of time ......after talking with different people though and taking on board the different opinions i came about with a question { my original point } what would you consider to be a good draw dog ........my own opinion is that the draw dog should be fit , well muscled and have some evidence about his/her face that would say he / she has seen hard work , and also that the dog/bitch would of had at least 3 seasons work under there collar ..........opinions please with no silly arguments because i'm trying to teach some one younger than myself and he is reading this thread .........thank you Quote Link to post

Guest bitsa lurcher
cant he buy a pup and bring it on himself , no one to blame but himself then. that is exactly what i suggested , good comment , my only hope is that he can see the sense in buying a pup insted of ending up with a load of c**p Quote Link to post
Guest bigredbusa
here is a message to him . look around for the right dog and maybe get to see the parents working and try not to go on here say. i was lucky and got a dog from unused stock and ended up being more than enough for me and not once did he turn his head. i can only tell you of breeding that i know of and what i would reccomend, try and get to see some of SB's (south) gear work but getting it is another story. honestly mate , any dog you see at least try and get to see it work. i personaly had some great dogs to go out with and i honestly can say had a huge difference in my dogs attitude. (tho if he done as much as the others it could of been a different story) dont rush and get a pup Quote Link to post
Guest bitsa lurcher
some good sound advise on this thread , thank you all for the good replies it seems to be working because the lad in question is thinking along the lines of a pup Quote Link to post

I agree with you whole hearted about buying a 3 or 4 year old with no signs of marking as a draw dog because if a lad had a good worker that had brains as well as braun he wouldnt be selling her in the local paper. FJager 0
I like the comment about marks around the face, I always have people telling me that their pig dogs are that good that they never get ripped, thats when I walk off! Stabs staffs, were very good draw dogs, they had a bit of other breeding in them though. Quote Link to post
