stubby 175
Hi all I'm a newbie to these forums and have just got back into air rifles and shooting. I'm looking for somewhere to shoot in the N/London and Herts area. Anyone got any suggestions. what you have to realise, is your asking a landowner to let you, walk over his land, with an air rifle, shooting things, he has to trust, that you 1, are going to respect his land, not take everyone and their uncle with you, shut gates, not trampel feilds, not shoot livestock etc etc 2, only shoot pest species therefore you have alot to prove to him, even before he say's yes 1st get yourself insured for public liability, look on this forum for insurers 2nd, maybe BISLEY safe use of airguns certificate 3rd maybe a place to get rid of unwanted carcases, ie, you may want to keep shot rabbits for the pot, but if they were to ask you to rid all the magpies etc, what would you do with them, NOT left lying around the farm/land, or dumped as soon as you get down the road, get all this infomation, before going on the knock, try large garden centres, estates/gardens open to the public, broaden your outlook, not just farms etc learn the law on what are pest species maybe get some cards printed, so even those that say no, can be left a card and a smile, in case your needed in the future at end of day, your get more no's than yes's but if you want it, you gotta go get it, dont expect to have it given to you, if you cant be bothered to put some time into it, even with my BPCA cert, and bisley, I still only have 1 permission for shooting, which I aquired before getting those cert's but do mostly ferreting, so not too worried also got myself a very nice ferreting permission from a land management company, just by leaving details for future reference Quote Link to post
