:icon_eek:i cant believe it!!! i got up this morning at 9:00 to feed my ferrets as usuall, only to be shocked by the absence of my albino hob :no:the latch of the cage had dropped to let the door open . anyway, i had a good look around the garden to no avail :( .so i gave it a couple of hours, came back out at 12:00 only to find him eating something at the bottom of his cage at the bootom of my garden  .on closer inspection i found it was a large rat, freshley killed by the looks of it! so i took it off him just incase and placed him back in his cage, i was in shock :o had he been out hunting all day? and returned to his cage?! im thinking about letting him out evey day to feed himself if this is the case :haha: !!! he has always been a great ferret and i couldnt be without him, but this just proves how capable ferrets are!

the correct advice would be, no, dont let him out each day to hunt himself, this was a one off, and your lucky he came back, you say yourself you would'ent wanna be without him, so kinda answers the question,

as a keeper of any animal, its your obligation to feed them, i know with ferts, we use them to feed us (rabbits) but keep him SAFELY locked up in future
