brenner 774
Why breed bull whippets? What's there purpose? what do they do what the bull grey can? Genuine questions not having a dig Size for a start. Not everyone wants a big dog. Plus they will do everything any other whippet x would and the ones iv seen are fantastic bushing and mooching dogs they have fantastic noses and can have a good stretch on the lamp too. These pups that stud dogs bred all look like they can run too which is great. I agree with the above and I just wanted to add... One thing people usually seem to over look on past debates I've read on this subject is the benefits of the working traits a working bred whippet brings to the table. Ie.. intelligence, nose , trainability, prey drive. In other words a well bred whippet by itself is a hunting breed. Now take the greyhound... It's bred to see and then chase , has high prey drive and adds the obvious benefits of size ,if that's what you want. But nowhere in its lineage are you likely to find dogs bred for nose, intelligence, trainability. In other words a good lurcher has usually taken most desired mental traits from whatever dog the greyhound was x with bar prey drive of course. I'm not trying to knock a well bred lurcher. You could list the benefits of a big dog over a small dog all day long but each to his own . Personally I prefer a handy sized little dog for what I do 4 Quote Link to post
