Guest mush
I had a dog with Kizzy of Barkstead est. in it he was the same as your dog he took rabbit from the start but would just run hare , in the end i let him run one that wasn't a 100% he did every thing but use his mouth but in the end he caught hold of it and never looked back, he would always kill by crushing the head, and all the ones bred off him did the same but i never had the same trouble starting them as i did with him. Guest mush
if he's run right it wont mater some pace the hare only, if he uses his speed and can sit back when need be he should be a good un as theres some good dogs in his pedigree. Good luck with him. Have a look on http://pawvillage.com/index.asp and put in some of the names on your ped you will find Knightellington, Sedeki, Burydown, all good coursing lines. Meerihunter 7
Just keep going with him keep getting him out, experience is everything. I would'nt worry about the small fields, these dogs have amazing running intelligence once they learn out to control their hare they can be very efficient on even the small fields. Pawvillage is great for looking into the Saluki line, if you have 5 min add your dog to the data base it might fill in some gaps. Regards Mark Quote Link to post
