toxo 160
34g .22lr hp. MV 1640, Nickel plated with copper jacket. Anyone used em? Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
I've never used them but have found my brno mod 2 doesn't like any higher velocity round. I've tried several including lasers and stingers but will try some of these Winchester if I can get some. Quote Link to post
toxo 160
It's an old box Dan. Don't know if they're current. Says only to be used in modern good condition weapons. Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
Oh right fair enough. I've got a few boxes of the Winchester laser high velocity but their awful through my rifle lol. They are 37g I think and are copper plated hollow point. Quote Link to post

I'm a bit frit about trying them in my Annie 1417 . I read somewhere that ear defenders are advised Then again, I used to get loads of bunnies from about 20yds out but now there's not so many of em and the rest have got wise. Having to reach out past 80yds now. These will certainly flatten the trajectory and the noise won't matter cos there already taking an age to come out after you shoot one. The only advice from Rimfire Central is don't use em on a semi auto. Edited November 28, 2015 by toxo Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
I use winchester subs out to 120 yards on bunnies. Just got to know your trajectory, the higher velocity will help and in my opinion the stingers and the like are as loud as a HMR. Just the sonic crack your not going to stop. Quote Link to post
toxo 160
Puzzling. I wish manufacturers would give different names to different variations. I've read lately about 29/32/34/36g variations. The ones I have are 34g and made in Australia. They're the same length as "normal", not long like stingers etc. http://www.unusual-gifts.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/IMG1.JPG http://www.unusual-gifts.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/IMG2.JPG http://www.unusual-gifts.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/IMG3.JPG left to right; Xpediter Xtra High Velocity 34g hp, Eley subs hp, Eley Match rn, CCI 40g subs hp, Aguila Super Extra 38g subs hp, RWS 40g subs hp, Fiocchi 40g subs hp, Winchester Super X 42g subs hp. Even the Win hp subs that I've always used have the same name even though they are now 42gr instead of 40gr. Edited November 30, 2015 by toxo Quote Link to post

The Winchester subs I buy currently are 40g but I do believe they now have a 42g available but don't think they intend on them replacing the 40g. The Winchester laser ammo I have are silver case but looking online their is a brass case winchester laser available. Quote Link to post
Rimfireboy! 1,463
34g .22lr hp. MV 1640, Nickel plated with copper jacket. Anyone used em? Had a box of them years ago, i think they were ok if I remember right. Of all the high velocity .22's, I liked the eleys best, found them just as accurate as subs but can't get them anymore. Don't know if the 42s are superceding the 40s but the mv is quoted as the same 1065 fps Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
Oh right. I'll certainly try them if my local stocks them. Quote Link to post

Rimfireboy! 1,463
As I understand it, the 42max are replacing the 40 grain Winnie's. I tried a box and found them to be slightly more accurate than the old 40 grain wins in my anschutz 1417. Very nearly as accurate as the eley subs in the same rifle. Quote Link to post
