The Sporting Whippet Club of NI Dog Show/Race Day and Barbecue, Sunday 13^th September 15, at Dunsilly Kennells, Co Antrim

 

 

Sunday morning came bright and early with a clear blue sky, the September sun gleaming down in all its glory, as we set off for the County Antrim Country side and the townland of Dunsilly. With its beautiful schooling track and easy accessibility to the motorway, Dunsilly Kennells was the perfect venue for the last “ Sporting Whippet Club NI “ Dog show, Race day and barbecue of the year 2015 .

 

 

As we arrived at our destination with dogs in tow, the Tents were already set up and ready to go for another great end of year show at Dunsilly Kennells. Soon the field filled up quickly, with Canine folk all out for the end of year Sporting Whippet NI Show and Race day at Dunsilly.

 

 

Paul Reynolds and his cookery team were already there preparing our food for the day. With the barbecues lit, burgers and sausages on the grill, hunger and appetite comes to mind. It was not long to the smell of mixed spices was wafting their fine food flavors all over the place.

 

 

At approximately 12.30 the Heats for the Racing took place, followed by a most enjoyable Barbecue.

A big Congratulations to Tracy and Rea, and all the winners on the day.

 

 

And Finally, thanks to the judges on the day Felicity Thompson and Steven Mc Hale for a job well done in the show ring. There were 48 Whippets on show on Sunday, and some very large classes.Many thanks to our resident photographer Deirdre Mc Coy, for all the lovely photographs during the year of 2015.

 

 

And Finally, Finally, may I take this opportunity to thank our Chairman, Paul Reynolds, Vice Chairman John Mc Stay, Racing Manager Patsy Mc Coy/Mickey Quinn/ Brian Crothers, Carole Hill, Kirsty Fyffe and John Shaw, and all the other hard working committee members of the Sporting Whippet Club NI, for another great year of Showing and Racing at Dunsilly.

 

 

Our thanks go out especially to Paul Reynolds, Pearse Reynolds, Sam Canning and Darren Heatherington, for the superb Barbecue provided on Sunday. Also some tasty home made Salads were made by Susan Mc Cann/Tracy Gill/Carol Hill. They were simply delicious and very much appreciated ladies. Lets not forget our hard working committee for all their team work and dedication behind the scenes to make our shows run smoothly and efficiently during the year 2015. We may not get it right all of the time, but we do our best for every member of the Sporting Whippet Club NI to get it right most of the time.

 

 

 

At this point we cannot forget the man who makes all our show days and dreams possible. Yes Victor Mc Donald, owner of Dunsilly, a heartfelt thanks to you for all your help this year, and we hope to see you again in 2016.

 

 

As the showing and racing year comes to an end, and the work in the field begins, I will look back on 2015 with the fondest of memories and a tear in my eye. I made many new friends in the Canine world, helped various charities along the way through my show advertising and shows involved in, and above all the companionship, and friendships I have made along the way in the canine world.

 

 

And as I conclude, I would like to thank all the members of the Sporting Whippet NI, and all the good men and women of the Canine world who have supported the Sporting Whippet Club NI throughout 2015. We hope you and your families have all enjoyed our Show and Race days at Dunsilly , and we hope to see you all again in 2016.
