Bit Of Care For Mk1 Box

Recommended Posts

HI Guy I don't know if this has been posted before.

In the Mk1 the guts are loose and can rattle around I think this causes a lot of problems. So if you take the PC board out and put a strip of draught excluder sticky back foam top and bottom inside the box then carefully put the guts back in. Now work out on the lid where you can build up some piles of foam one on top of each other till it traps the mother board in place this will stop it rattling around, make sure you do not trap the wheel or the black cloth on the speaker.

The black sticky back foam used for putting sinks into work tops is better than draught excluder is better.

I also file the sharp edges off where the wheel protrudes from the box to stop the numbers being worn off. worth checking its not rubbing after putting the foam on.

Also 1' and 2' foot marks often seem to have worn off so I put a mark in the little groves on the wheel 1 line for 1' 2 for 2 also mark where the on off is so its easy to tell if its on or off. I use a paint pen but tipex would probably work.

Don't store them in the shed, put in airing cupboard or some where dry like that. (don't tell wifey)

And when your mate says chuck the finder over the hedge, don't! pass it through.

This is not meant to be patronising.

Cheers Arry.
