A Quick Hour On The Wharfe

Recommended Posts

Well the waders are on order and the weather was grim. I finished work at 6 and planned to be down the range for 7.30, so I thought I'd swap the fly gear (even though I patiently sat in front of the telly tying a dozen dries last night!) for the spinning gear.

Got down to the river and set the rod up with a small spinner. Dropped two in two casts! Gutted, turns out the spinner had naff hook points so I switched up to another small spinner with decent sharp hooks on this time!

Ended up with a tally of 5 landed 3 dropped.

These two were the best of the bunch, the bottom fish is now in the freezer

Near Ilkley mate. Lovely bit of river, mayfly are coming off at the minute so I think the next couple of weeks should be good for the dry fly

Is it stocked Jonnie or are they wild fish ?
