Rez 4,961
As Im shooting more and more Im finding myself getting annoyed that the change of position when shooting alters the zero point marginally. Naturally with springers only. I generally zero prone, with HFT in mind, not that I shoot it much these days. My PS is dead on this way, so is the 97. Fine. But when sat against a tree or with me back to something, or even standing supported, Im seeing the shots fall around 10-11 o’click of the bull, about 10mm out and slightly different with the 97. If I go back to prone, both rifles are dead centre again. Ive narrowed it down to the way my leading hand is supporting the rifle up front, or the extra mass behind it when prone, as you can imagine. Im happy to leave these 2 rifles as is as they are mostly used against the peg. Finding a sorted front hand has took me ages so Im a bit against changing this with these two set ups. So. Im gonna spend the rest of the day with the Fenman, and have been thinking, how should I approach this… This is gonna be my summer rifle and it’ll get some right use. Shooting the gas ram system as opposed the spring system isn't actually that different and is just a case of it being a bit sharper with recoil. Do I zero this set up prone, or sitting. Most shoots in the fields are kinda kneeling supported or standing supported, unless lying in wait. I know that it will bang in the same hole all day long and prefer to have such a fine zero its like OCD so Im leaning towards prone but know that it will be used most off kneeling/standing. Or will a gas ram system not be such a fussing bitch with regard zero position? I know this isnt an issue as they all fall within an inch whatever they're being shot from. OCD. As I said. 1 Quote Link to post
jonnie bravo 572
Mate. You have just summed up every spring rifle owners' issues!! I would be tempted to say zero kneeling/sat. Maybe zero like this then hit up a hft course? What about fitting a hamster or something that might make a constant hand position easier. There's so much that can adjust POI on a springer it's annoying... But that's the fun of them as well! Quote Link to post
