WHOOEE, WHOOEE --- APPLEBLOSSOM TIME AGAIN THIS SUNDAY 12th APRIL AT THE DOG SHOW RACE DAY EXTRAVAGANZA AT LAURENCETOWN ( BETWEEN GILFORD AND BANBRIDGE)

 

It is with great regret that Drumbo Whippet Club have had to cancel their planned Race/Show Day on Sunday 12 April due to an issue with the venue.

 

 

But do not fear The Combined Clubs are here.

 

 

The Combined Clubs have agreed to host the event on Drumbo Whippet Clubs behalf at Holymount Road, Lawrencetown this Sunday 12 April 2015.

 

 

Racing entries will be taken from 11.00 am. Racing will commence at 12 noon sharp!!

 

 

Full Lurcher, Terrier, Whippet and Heavy Dog showing to follow.

 

 

Please note this show is a qualifer for the :

1/ Master Mc Grath at Shanes Castle
2/ Whippet Five Nations Champion of Champions at Shanes Castle
3/ Lurcher Five Nations Champion of Champions at Birr Castle
4/ Terrier Five Nations Champion of Champion at Birr Castle

5/ A qualifier for the Lurcher , Terrier and Whippet Champion to be held at the year end

 

 

Roll up, Roll up everybody, only 3 days to go. Get the trailers out and the dogs loaded up on Sunday and head for Laurencetown( Same field as last show in Laurencetown. )

 

And more good news

Courtesy of Mr AJ Titterington, Irish Countrysports and Country Life is happy to transfer the original prize money of £50 for the Best Terrier and £50 for the best whippet to this venue.

 

 

There will be straight Racing and simulated Racing for Lurchers, and another first, simulated racing for Whippets on their own.

 

Some beautiful Trophies, Rosettes, and Dog Meal

 

Everyone welcome for a Good, Fair and well run Race/Show event.

      A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY FRIENDS IN THE COUNTRY SPORTS  ARENA
      As we approach the end to 2025, I would like to reach out and personally thank  all my friends in Country Sports for all  the hard work you  put into  organising our dog show and race days in 2025 for all to enjoy. These were all fantastic events and truly served as a wonderful window for our Country Sports fraternity.
      Days like these at our dog shows in the summer are so important for our community, and your details and dedication to the cause has really shone through. So many charities have benefited over the years and so many new friends made at these get togethers  by like minded people. This was very evident in July this year when the Burren Working Dog Club gave £17,OOO to a charity. What an achievement.
       
      I know there will be some very sad homes  this year,  with places missing at the  dinner table  in  our Country Sports  community. Can I please offer my heartfelt sympathy to all those people , and  hopefully with Gods help you will get through to brighter days ahead.
       
      Many thanks to the McGrath Racing Club Carlow, for a great day out at the 5 Nations and who has travelled north and south of the border to run our racing so efficiently and helped me out on many occasions..  A special word of thanks to Tally Ho ( Peter Morgan ) for keeping the Country Sports window open in the dark days of winter by organising your virtual competitions and giving away so many generous prizes in return. This is so greatly appreciated .
       
      And Finally, to my mentors and long term friends  Mr 5 Nations himself, yes The King of the Castle Albertj Titterington and his lovely wife Irene. Albert it is great to see you getting back to health again, and we look forward to seeing you back on the scene in 2026.
       
      Finally, Finally, may I take this opportunity  to  wish you all North and South of the border and further afield a very Happy Christmas and  Prosperous  New Year.

      I Am Free

      I found a peace at close of day.

      Perhaps my time seemed all to brief

      Lift up your hearts my friends and share with me
      God wanted me now,  
      He set me free.
      John, we will love you forever and you will be sadly missed by your loving family and all your Country Sporting Fraternity and in the show ring.
      May the Angels above give you the best seat in Heaven and may your gentle soul rest in peace.

      Hi folks just an update on our show,
      This show is without doubt Irelands largest fundraising dog show, in only four years of bringing this show back to life, we are very proud to have raised £41000 for cancer related charities…
      This year we returned to Daisy lodge cancer fund for children, a local charity that does amazing work for kids and families affected by cancer….  We smashed last years amount of £14000 to reach an outstanding £17000….  
       
      We would like to thank every person who has supported our show, sponsorsed and donated gifts for an amazing raffle..   We had over £1500s worth of prizes for the raffle….  A very special thanks to Margaret Mcstay for advertising, The legend dog racing team of the McGrath Family, Dwtc for ongoing support, And  Burren working dog show team.. Thanks everyone and roll on 2026….   A show not to miss
