hedgerow pete 25
i own a mk6 350 trany lwb high top. i need to buy a spare tyre for it i have all ready 215/75/16R a size of tyre i wish to stay with but looking through fleebay for a complete spare has confused me, tyres are advertised as having rims with 5J AND 5.5J , 6J AND 6.5J so i take it there rim widths and being a wide tyre do i need to also have a 6.5J rim ?? i see wheel sets advertised with 5.5J and still having 215/75/16R tyres as well as 215/75/16R on 6.5J rims which is correct also where do i look on the wheels i have now to find the rim width numbers is it stamped as 6.5J some where i see that 5.5J is common but what is a 6.5J used for and so on?? lastly what are they painted with, mine are dirty with odd rusty marks and i was looking to repaint them, is it best to remove the rubber and shot blast and repaint or will outside repainting be ok
Chid 6,901
Face of the wheel near one of the wheel nut holes will normally be the place they get stamped

Chid 6,901
Or just measure them 5.5j is just how many inches wide they are .. Painting just give them a sand down and use a good quality paint on them ... Silver hammerite is good if your going to brush paint them
