Rez 4,961
Hello all. Some on you lads are well into your rapids and the chance has come up to perhaps acquire one myself, having always wanted one of the old workhorses. I was hoping I could pm the rapid lads about what I should be looking for when viewing the rifle. Gurus come forward and Ill message you. Many thanks. Quote Link to post
Rimfireboy! 1,463
Beware a lot of Rapids have been butchered by back street tuners. .177 is probably less likely to have been messed with because the calibre doesn't lend itself to high power like the .22 version. Front scope mount bolt hole can be prone to stripping its thread from heavy handed over tightening, as this has to be removed to accesss the barrel locator. Rapids are relatively easy to strip and service and their solid engineering means that they should keep on working. A fairly safe buy, but look for evidence of butchery by looking at the condition of fixings like chavled screw heads etc. these can be tell tale signs of internal bodgery. Well set up, they work a treat and addition of a quick fill and gauge make a good tool even better. Quote Link to post
