A few years ago I went out for a shine with my bitch Lily 3/4grey 1/4wheaten, it was a perfect night on good ground plenty of rabbits.

Well we got to the ground and Lily was buzzing we set off had a few runs and put a few in the bag she was spot on, had plenty over the farm I was heading back to my truck to drop off the rabbits as they were getting heavy then go off again in the field next to where I was parked saw a squatter right in the middle of the field and thought well there's another for the freezer, I always run Lily off the slip when im on my own so lamp on dogs sighted, off she goes at a steady pace gets close puts in a textbook strike and misses, the bunny is off heading for home with Lil in hot pursuit up and down the hedge in and out of the hedge now this is a good rabbit so after a while it turns out from the hedge and runs straight up the beam towards me, so I keep the light on it and it runs straight between my legs and I turn round to watch it run away keeping the light on it all the time and at that point I realise my mistake WHACK Lily hits me in the legs at full tilt, I can honestly say my world turned upside down, my legs went higher than my head when I landed flat on my back the game bag had emptied, I was winded and bruised, when I looked up Lily is stood over me rabbit in mouth as if to say what the f**k you up to we got rabbits to catch..

Shes 8 now and a good bit slower and im a good bit wiser.
