kvnmcwebn 0
My 2 year old jrt. recently chased sheep on two occasions while out. Once on a family members land once on a neighbors. Though i had him stock broke long time ago. Very frustrating as i live in sheep country. He knows its wrong but thinks the fun is worth the punishment. Those collars are starting to look appealing but is there anything else i can try first. I have access to a small field with sheep so I can train him in amongst the sheep on a lead. Any advice? Hes fine with other livestock even hens just not sheep i guess.
Guest Ditch_Shitter
That Dog's going to end up shot, damn soon, mate. Personally, I'd cut the shit and go for the collar. I don't hate them myself. I just hate the thought of what some idiots would do with them. But you just don't come across as an idiot. I've also heard from a friend who isn't an idiot and got one on their own Dog for similar reasons. Seems they work.

heart of wales 19
The collars do work speaking from a lot of experience try the long lead version first though,I normally take a dog into a field with a fare length of rope walk him through or as close as until you get a reaction yank him back and whack him not on the head with a rolled up newspaper it wont hurt him the noise will scare him ,do this a couple of times over the period of a couple of wekks lengthing the rope each time, try to use older sheep or tups the wont run like lambs will Did he chase lambs recently ???????? what did he chase
Tyla 3,179
My mate, whos a sheep farmer, broke his staff to sheep by penning her up with a couple of rams. Seems to have worked but apparently she got a hiding in the process, not sure i'd try it with my dog.
