Problems In The Pick Up

Recommended Posts

I've got a 3 1/2 year old lab that's doing his third season this year, he's totally fine in the beaters wagon but has started to be an arse in the back of a pick up with dogs other than my own.

not every time but when he's acting up he stands with his head in the corner barking (which to me is more nervous than aggressive) and its come to blows a few times now.

Any suggestion about a reason/solution behind this?

It's hard to put a finger on the exact reason for a behaviour mate but it take 3/4 years for a dog to fully express his personality

So any issues he may have had and been passed off as a minor thing at the time come to fruition at that stage in his life

You might even have forgotten about or he associates something in the present with a thing in his past, dogs have a physical memory not a mental one as such

I would just try to redirect him into a ball or similar something he could chew to releave tension or teach him to bark somewhere else ,

Best of luck with the dog

Grant_c - so far it just seems to be with really big black labs, one occasion was with one of the keepers I work with big black lab dog (which growls at other dogs but isn't one for attacking)
The second occasion was with another big black lab dog, it was soft as can be but my dog acted the same.
