recently got an 8 week old pup (patterdale)but it does not seem to be eating much .now i have had pups before albeit spaniels but this one seems to eat f**k all he will roghly eatone and a half scrambled eggs on a morning but then just picks at his soften biscuits and milk at dinner then same again with warmed up rice pud on a night have tried other meals but with same effecthe is healthy enough and is toiletting ok but just wondered if the fact that when he was weaned off the bitch the pups were fed ad lib is making a difference ?i would have thought that by now he would be into more of a routinebut he just sniffs at it then maybe has a bit then plays etc etcit may just be me bein paranoid as the vet said he looked healthy enuff but thought i would ask anyway

 If hes hungry he'll eat. as you say dont worry about it, sometimes when you have another dog eating nearby it'll encourage a lazy eater. Have you tried fresh minced meat??

no i havent put any meat in yet am just trying leaving him with it over night and see what he eats .just figured it was cos litter were just fed ad lib and lots of it so there was no real competition for it so thats why he is fussy

Why all this talk of minced meat??? I just chuck an eight week old pup what he'll be getting for the rest of his life ~ a chunk of fresh, raw flesh and bone. Believe me, they set to it without a care in the world. One of the most satisying scenes I can observe, in fact.

I mean, each to his own 'n all that. But Minced meat, softened biscuits, scrambled eggs and rice pudding?! :icon_eek: Bloody hell ....!

True DS they will mince the stuff themselves,i give mine a rack of lamb breast a couple of times a week n meaty bones too,but the minced frozen stuff is easier to get hold of easier to store and cheaper and i dont think the dogs mind not having to chew it,but its good to give em something to get their teeth into now and then
