Dog or Bitch

Until this year I'd only ever had bitches, but got my first dog in January. I've heard people say that they prefer bitches because they're more trainable. I have to say my dog is more intelligent and more biddable that any bitch I've ever owned by a long shot. I realise other factors like breeding are significant too, but do you have a preference and what do you think are the overall differneces between dogs and bitches for working?

iv found dogs have more character but occasionaly get destracted when hunting(fights, bitches)

while females seem to have no personality but in my opinion hunt better

also i read somewhere although im not sure if its true dogs listen and like women more while bitches listen to and like blokes more just a thought

My bitch is scared of men whereas my dog likes them. In fact I sometimes think he'd prefer a male owner, but he's lumbered with me. I do think there are times when the deeper male voice does gain a dog's attention more effectively. Lots of us women have to practice our 'voice of doom'!

I have worked with and owned and trained both dogs and bitches. I dont believe there is any difference in working ability. It is all about the time you put into them. Bitches mature and settle down earlier than dogs, thats the only difference. I neuter my dogs, so that helps out a bit when the bitches are in season.

Bitches, they tend to be a wee bit more easy going, well mine is. I have a dog and he is off the wall, where the bitch takes everything in her stride.

Bitches usually are less submissive ect, but not allways.

i prefer working a dog than a bitch but i find bitches more loyal.
