bigruss 21
Started work on a new Private 60 acre estate ... on my first walk round the upper paddocks there must have been in access of 60 wabbits on the edge of it ... not a movement from them until I got within 25 yds. , and I was out in the open ... next field was pretty much the same .......... I was in wabbit hunters heaven and thought Jesus all my Christmas's had come at once ... over the next few hours what I saw was every hunters dream ........ every one of the species of pest /vermin we are allowed to shoot was in such abundance it was unreal . then it all caved in I was gutted ..... there all anti hunting bean eaters and wont allow any thing to be shot there , even after I explained that most of the rabbits i'd seen in the bottom two fields had mixi and how much they were suffering they wouldn't budge . bigmac 97kt 13,841
Its all way the same mate one of my perms backs onto another farm(as most do) and im in one field with six rabbits in it and in the other about ten or more but its not mine little feckers are with in shooting distance and all i can do is lean on the fence and look at them with tears in my eyes . But im on taking terms with the farmer now we have asked if we can shoot on his land and he said no he has some one but a quick hello and a bit of banter go,s a long way and i will ask again soon as its been a long time since eny one has been shooting on his land. Just keep trying you never know atvbmac  Quote Link to post
mattwhite 1,993
I had the same on my local golf course. I wanted to speak to the greenkeeper and the golf pro who had asked me to call in about the rabbit problem but i phoned instead only to get the receptionist. When she asked what the call was about and i told her she went all bean eater on me saying that they are not really a pest!!!! And asked me what harm they do on the course!!!! Absolutely gobsmacked at how stupid she had sounded i asked her to ask the greenkeeper who spends every waken hour trying to keep the greens perfect what harm they do!!!!! But after all the unnecessary conversation i ended up calling in with insurance documents and getting the permission, much to the ladies disgust......some people!!! Quote Link to post
bigruss 21
LOL I lost a very good Golf course in June because of a few miss informed fools ... only allowed on there from 11pm to 7pm which wasn't a bad thing as I love using night vision and lamping First week I shot it I bagged in excess of 45 rabbits . most of which went in the freezer with some to the head grounds man and some to head green keeper .... all very happy ... second week went on twice again decent bags both nights as it had obvs not been shot for a long time , on the second time a youngish prim and proper lady was walking her dogs really early 6.30 or so as I was packing up , she walked right up to me and asked what I was doing and did I have permission to be on the land ..... I explained that I did indeed have permission and asked her the same she said her dad was one of the trustees of the golf course and then she flipped her lid at the thought of hunting and pest control .... and was going to make sure I wasn't allowed on there . cut a long story short it is an exclusive private members golf club which her "DADDY" as she called him was very influential , I was asked to go over for a meeting a week later and told that some of the more senior (very rich) members quite liked seeing the rabbits bouncing about whilst they played golf , so I was told I wouldn't be needed anymore ... I spoke to the green keeper two weeks ago who said some of the bottom end greens where the rabbits were more prolific now look no better than any average public course ... there gutted , and also signs of mixi are now showing up ........... STUPID WOMAN !!!! 2 Quote Link to post

bigruss 21
that's exactly what I told them .... there loss , the average age up there is 55 lol ....... to be honest I don't really need the permission as it is a good drive from where I live and ive still got about 200 acres in 4 different permissions and all within 20 mins drive , but that one was special .... a once in a life time permission , all ruined because some ill informed tree hugger who was prob stings best mate who drove a battery powered car and lived on pulses and beans didn't like it ................ I don't like standing in other peoples dogs excrement but I didn't push it down her throat ..... oh well onwards and upwards . Quote Link to post
