Stretch177 39
Wondering if you lads can give me a tips! Basically my beddy whippet has either cut her ear on something or one of the dogs has caught it when they were fighting! Anyway it was healing OK, kept washing it with warm salty water. But she constantly shakes here head meaning it keeps opening back up and bleeding! Was considering wrapping it up but thought I'd ask what you more experienced lads thought? mattyg 1,862
Grab some tights, cut the toe end off then cut into 8" sections then just thread one over the head clamping the ears down and leave to heal. I've also used "new skin " aswell Cheers, matt
the big chief 3,099
when mine did that i cleaned it up dried it off and super glued it till it started to knit together worked a treat
Plummerterrier 291
Glue it or put a dressing on till its crusts mines cut his tail fighting with another dog and it bled for hours. Fired savlon and a dressing soon as it crusted it was fine
Stretch177 39
Problem I'm having is it's crusting over, but she constantly shakes her head meaning it starts to bleed and open up again! Going to have to glue it as everything else has failed so far!
skycat 6,174
Wrap it up so it is fixed on top of the dog's head: use Elastoplast sticking fabric roll and fix in place with a dab of superglue: only enough to stick it to the fur in a few places: not too tight round the throat mind: dog has to breathe and drink and eat. First fold the ear on top of the head, with cotton wool wrapped round the injured part. Hold in place while you wind Vetwrap or Elastoplast right round the head, leaving the uninjured ear free as seen in the photo. The amount of wrapping in the photo is a bit over kill, but better to have a wide amount of wrap round the throat than having a narrow strip that will dig into the dog's throat and be uncomfortable. You'll probably need at least 3 hands to do it well!
