The Nilrc Champion Of Champions Annual Dog Show , Sunday 31St August 14

Recommended Posts

The Nilrc Champion Of Champions Annual Dog Show And Race Day, held at The Field Of Dreams Schooling Track Gulladuff, Maghera, Sunday 31st August 14.

With Sat Nav switched on, Dogs and trailer loaded up, our biological clock was telling our household, it was time to head for breakfast enroute, and final journey, “ The Field of Dreams” Schooling Track “ at Gulladuff, Maghera. This is where the dreams of so many Whippet, Lurcher, Terrier men and women came true on Sunday 31st August 14.

The venue was the “Field of Dreams “ schooling track ,Guladuff. This is an established family run business, owned and run by the Hurley family. The Race Track is top class, and has progressed from strength to strength over the past few years. This was the venue for the Nilrc Dog Show and Raceday, and was held with kind permission of the Hurley Family. This is a brilliant venue, and a top class race track.

Very soon the field began to fill up with dogs, trailers and families. This was very evident by the large number of children who took part in the childrens handling class. These young boys and girls are our show organisers/huntsmen and women of tomorrow, and we rely on them to carry on the tradition, when we become too old to do so.

Mr Moo Moo was there with his burgers and ice cream, and went down a treat with both adults and children. We took a strool over to Martin Laverys stand, and bought some lovely rain proof dog coats for Whippets. Martin had some great bargains on the day, with everything you need in the Canine and hunting world.

Time flew bye very quickly, and soon it was time to start the Racing. As the racing started, the cheering began, and with it came the excitement, and this did not stop to the last race romped home. What a race track, pure gold. All dogs finished safe.

A Big Congratulations and well done to all the worthy winners. There will be some nice trophys and shields on the mantlepieces of sitting rooms during the long winter days ahead.

And finally may I take this opportunity to thank the Judges, Ann Forsythe Whippets/Rod Clarke Lurchers / and Bob Stiff Terriers, and the committe and members of the NILRC for a job well done on the day . Coyle photography was there, clicking away and recording everyones moment of glory. There are some lovely photographs on face book at the moment from this show.

A very enjoyable day was had by all, and I look forward to more of the same in 2015.

A Tribute to the late John Shaw who passed away  last Thursday 6th November 25

      I Am Free
Do not grieve for me now my  friends and family, I am free
I am following the path God Laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
To Love, to live, to hunt, to show my treasured Whippets, or play.
I found a peace at close of day.
Be not burdened with the times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Do not lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts my friends and share with me
      God wanted me now,
      He set me free.
John, we will love you forever and you will be sadly missed by your loving family and all your Country Sporting Fraternity and in the show ring.
May the Angels above give you the best seat in Heaven and may your gentle soul rest in peace.
      For Country Sports Fraternity
