Fennster16 29
To cut a long story very short, a kid who I work with has given me a ferret they have found as a thank you. (I would have preferred flowers). Anyway brought it home and it's a neutured hob, very friendly fell asleep on my lap, was fine with the dog, it's obviously been a house pet. All was well until I placed it's carry case near my ferrets, I've let it sniff the back end of my Jill and it was all quite. I've then let my Jill have a sniff (while the cage door was still closed) while it was in its case and the things let out an unholy scream and latched onto my Jill. Hissing like a snake shaking making a similar sound to a kit in distress. Things obviously never been socialised now am stuck with it. Any ideas? All the ferrets I've had have been fine with others, or does anyone know of a rescue near the Liverpool Warrington area? She was so made up she had given me a ferret and wanted me to take it for helping her (my boss was cocking her sides laughing) me being a soft arse said yes next time I will defo say no! Fennster16 29
Mating season? Are you sure its neutered? I said that as it does have a smell, but it's tackle is gone, it was terrified, I don't think it's seen a ferret since it was a kit. Or this was the reason it was neutered. I can't just get flowers or chocolates can I haha Quote Link to post
bobcullen79 1,495
Sure its not a immature male? Testes wont have dropped yet(empty sack), and it would also explain its fear, young and inexperienced? Quote Link to post

Positive u can see were they were taken I think it's about 2 years old, hopeful I have someone who has owned ferrets before to take him. He is a sweet little ferret he's currently in my back room creating havoc ! As long as he gets a good home I will be happy 1 Quote Link to post

Ive been sitting down near the cage with him and put him in one of their nezt boxes to get use to their smell. My ferts are pretty bouncey like he is quiet, doesnt donk or dance. Either way he will stay or go to a good home, shame he is a nice fert 1 Quote Link to post
Fennster16 29
Update on the identity crisis ferret. Well thought I was getting somewhere yesterday, he managed to stay by the cage without screaming. Today actually got him to play and dance a little so thought he must be settling. So back down to the cage for our daily sit. Still shaking a little and he initiated a sniff of the cage while the ferrets were ignoring him. Was ok until my oldest Jill decided to drag my hobb, who is a BIG hobb into their nest box, and the thing started screaming again and quite literally shit itself. Can only say thank god for my gloves (was wearing them in case he latched on again to one of my ferrets). So back to the drawing board Quote Link to post

Fennster16 29
Is that the albino neutered hob on preloved free to a non working home? if hes curled up on an everton shirt he was. I have found a nice lady to take him now who recently had her ferret pts. Been and vetted her home and was satisfied she was legit. So i hope he settles, if not she has agreed to contact me so i will get him back. I didnt have an indoor hutch, so was in my back room was akward and not fair to him. End of the day hes now got someone who can spend that time socialising him, and is going to send me a picture of him so i know how hes doing Quote Link to post

Fennster16 29
nice 1, they cant all be workers He might have turned out to be one with time. But I don't think I would have taken that risk with him. At least he can give someone some pleasure as a pet in a nice home now, he was as daft as a brush lol Quote Link to post

Fennster16 29
hobs are real characters lol Ain't they just, I had mine in the house after he was snipped so I could keep an eye on his stitches. Came home to find he had broken out the cage and ransacked the house. Thought he had gone out the flat window. Couldn't find him anywhere, then noticed my cupboard open where I keep the dogs food etc and he was stuffed full of food, asleep on her bag of mixer haha Quote Link to post
