Cedric 132
Unpredicatble thing - this shooting business. Went out this evening to check the zero on my hmr. I was quite please with the top group but look at that flyer! Had it been a fox it's the difference between a clean head shot or shooting his nose off. Whilst I was at it I tried shooting without the specs I normally wear, using the scope to adjust for my sight, the results were quite surprising, much improved groups without specs. Mind you they had been misting up in the warm weather. Inner bull is 3/4". Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
Quite surprising that. The hmr is generally a very accurate round and that first group without the flyer is what you'd normally expect from it. Have you tried the federal v shok and cci tnt range of ammo? Quote Link to post
Cedric 132
Nope, just tried Winchester and CCI, it didn't like either of those. Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
Id defo try the federal ammo mate. Also hornady make a 15.5g and 20g hmr round I've not tried them but maybe worth ago. I just got rid of my hmr as i swapped it for a .22-250 but it loved hornady vmax 17g and federal v-shok. The cci tnt weren't bad either to be honest. With hornady vmax I could get 1/2 inch consistent groups at 100 yards off a bipod on a very still day. I emphasis on the still day lol Quote Link to post
celticrusader 78
Tbh I gotta admit my hmr gets on with most of the big brands and the difference for me is minimal. Hornady,Winchester, federal and Remington... Havnt tryed any others yet but all in 17grain polymer. Quote Link to post
Cedric 132
Shropshire dan - emphasis is on the ' still day'. The hmr is shortly on it's way to be replaced with a .22 Hornet for that very reason. Up in the hills here and mostly a good breeze at least. 1 Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
Mines gone and replaced with a .22-250 once my variation is back Quote Link to post
