right i have a saluki x grey nearly a year old thing is during the day will chase anything .But out on the lamp few times just not intrested this is a very well breed butch but i need it work on the lamp so ? is how long should keep trying before i sell her for day time dog

not a saluki fan but Im with you SJM, for me there not a lamping dog I know Im going to get slated here but if you want a lamping dog why buy a saluki, yes there are a lot of saluki lurchers that lamp, but they are out and out coursing dogs, but give the dog a chance it will lamp

Why dont you take it through to you know where and retreive a few hares with it during the day? :whistling: You dont know how lucky you are having a pup that age, thats just raring to go, I would be dying to get out and try it. My pups only 5 months old, the next 5 or 6 months cant come in quick enough for me. Its up to you of course, and some saluki crosses make good lampers, Chesters dog has took to it pretty well. What sort of money would you be selling the dog for and what has it done so far? Might know of someone interested who will have the work for it, it wont learn nowt in a kennel, PM if you prefer :thumbs:

how is it bred MD ...?????you can get any dog to work the lamp it just takes time ..some click sooner than others ..i was out with a lad friday night who had a well bred saluki x ...its first time on the lamp by the end off the night we had got it a couplke off easy kills ....a fair bit of work to do with it but it will get there and so will yours .... :thumbs:

i no that snoop it just depressing right now as i have no dog for her to learn of as my bull x got put to sleep she would have learned it everything .Its times like this when you find you friends out you do them favours then when you need them reuturned there to busy but hi i wont give up just yet

just keep at it all you need is a couple off kick ups and some words of encoragement and you will get there ...you are better off on your own ...a dog can learn more bad habbits when out with others and alot off dogs wont bring bunnies back if theres other dogs present .....keep at it ...good luck .... :thumbs:

Has it had anything during the day? if it has there is no reason why it will not lamp, sounds like its just not seeing whats down the beam, and remember just because you can see it don't mean your dog can,ive had rabbits running two or three feet in front of young dogs and they still didn't see them, Just keep at it she will click it just takes time.
