woodchip 2
Well today saw me and a good friend of mine out for the first time without my ferreting master TBF it was hard work to start with as my ferrets have not worked before as we use TBF ferrets ushally but this time its all down to me . so we set off looking for fresh holes and come across afew set up the long net put my ferrets down the holes and stood back but nothing they kept coming up and not wanting to go back down . so we packed up and moved on setting up again nothing so we took a walk to see what we could see and we stumbled across some bunnies playing near a tree line so we set again popped both the ferrets down again and 1 of them came up so we put her away and waited for the other to come up but nothing just as i was getting the locator out BANG purse net goes flying and there was my first bunnie in it . So we reset up and anotherone bolted towards the long net but ran along side it and out along the field b*****d so we moved the long net in to a better location and carried on bolted another 3 more but they were getting in and out of holes we could not get any were near as there was still such a thick bramble cover but im well happy and i know one of the girl does the job and ive learned what mistakes not to make again.... funnie if i had only shot 1 bunnie i would be pissed off but this rabbit will be one ill never forget... Guest MOLLY
Neck it before you untangle it?? 10 seconds would probably seem like a very long time to you, if it was your fate you were waiting for MOLL. Quote Link to post
woodchip 2
i couldnt it was all tangled over its head if i could have killed it there and then i would have ....... do you know ive been killing bunnies for over 20 years and i work on respect of your quarry at all time and i stick to this rule as much as i can pending on the situation so lets not turn this in to some crappy debate over a 10 sec period .... when im in the field i do things my way and i know im mostly right in the way i do things so i dont need advice so save it for some young newbie ..... stubby 175
when myself and magwich use the longnets, we tend to completely encircle the holes so the rabbits cant run the length of it, also i think when doing this you deffo need more than one fert down, otherwise they do tend to appear from one hole, dissappear down another, stick four ferts down, heats up the pace and gets them to run out easier....
