Astanley 11,680
I read in the local paper that he,s ill with cancer , it got me remembering when I was a kid in the 60s , living by the airport we would always go round there to see Liverpool when they came home from European games , St John was the only player I remember who always gave us the thumbs up and a smile and wave ,never failed , I was remembering this today when fuk me , I bumped into him in B&Q ( not looking too good either ) which coincidentally is only a 100yrds from the old airport where he used to wave to us,I told him how much those smiles and waves meant to a 10 yr old , Probably didn,t make much difference Ian s day , but it really made a difference to mine getting the chance to tell him that .. life eh !

Bosun11 537
Always thought StJohn was a decent bloke, even if he was from across the park! Good jump as a pundit too, him and Jimmy Greaves, Saint & Greavsey, paved the way for the modern approach to pre-match television. I hope he's on for Radio City come the new season. Good that ya got it out Stan, I'll betya it did make a difference....
