Hi,

My old man's HW97K has a acquired a niggling fault. The ball mechanism on the end of the underlever has stuck in the release position so that it only just holds in position under the barrel, but then as soon as you fire it the lever drops down. We've had a look at the mechanism but can't see how to unstick it or take it apart, there appears to be some sort of pin further back on the underlever. So any suggestions to overcome this issue much appreciated.

It is probably a slight forward movement of the silencer causing the problem. To cure, open the underlever and you should see an allen type grub screw towards the rear underside of the silencer, slacken off the grub screw, tap the end of the silencer with a wooden mallet or similar to knock back into position, tighten the grub screw back up to complete the fix.

Regards, Steve.

you may also need to heat the silence up with a paint stripper gun .I had the problem and a bit more ,I think the silencer is also thread lock type glued in place .my silencer is a little of center I heated the silencer up with two hair dryers to try and straiten it with no luck .What I did do was start the problem you have .So one day I tryed to remove the silencer by heating it up with a paintstripper gun I could not get it of .so I bashed it back on while hot with a hide mallet .the silencer has since slowly moved on to the barrel a little more making my catch work perfectly .I did loosen the little alen bolt and re tighten when necessary and my silencer is still a little of center .
