The Sporting Whippet Club of NI Dog Show and Race day Sunday 18th May 14 at Dunsilly Kennells, Antrim.

 

Although it rained all day and we were soaked to the skin, it still did not dampen the spirits of the show goers and their beautiful Whippet companions at Dunsilly today. For a very bad day weather wise, a nice sizeable crowd turned up to support ‘ The Sporting Whippet Club of Ni, and to show and race their loyal canine friends.

 

Fifty Five Whippets were shown in the ring over all Classes, and nearly as many more in the racing. So a good day was had by all. Some top Class Whippets in the ring today with their owners, all with the one thing in mind, to bring home one of the magnificent trophys on display at the ringside. And they were not disappointed.

 

Grading started at approximately 12.45pm,
Followed by the showing, and racing completed after the showing.

We cannot forget the sponsor of our dog meal at the club show today, “ Nuts about Pets”. A big thank you to Basil Thompson, owner of “ Nuts about Pets “ and Marty Mc Ilmail, for your kindness to the Sporting Whippet Club of NI. A lot of Whippets will be eating top class nuts to night. Wait to you see the shine on their coats in the coming weeks.

 

Dunsilly is superb, and all thanks goes out to Victor Mc Donald , owner of Dunsilly, for allowing the club to have their shows at this stunning venue.

 

And finally,finally, many thanks to Patsy Mc Coy , racing manager, Sporting Whippet Club, and his most efficient assistant Mickey Quinn and all their brilliant band of helpers for a great days racing. The racing went like clockwork, and was a credit to all involved. Without good team work this could not have happened. Well done Patsy and all involved.

Organisation was a key factor in the success of todays show and race day.This duty was carried out by our Chairman Paul Reynolds, who dedicated the whole day overseeing that everything kept moving. To help

Paul along the way, is son Pearse, his secretary/treasurer Carol Hill, with John Shaw and committee members, waiting in the wings to carry out any duty allocated by our Chairman.

 

Paul, many thanks for a great day at Dunsilly to day. Just pity about the weather.

 

Our next Sporting Whippet Club NI Show Day will be Sunday 22nd June 14.
