trenchfoot 4,243
Wish our fields were that flat! But that's a nicely balanced dog you have there Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
That's the whippet col! Trench - He does ok for me, if you watch closely you can see from his gait where he damaged a back leg badly, and also a weakness in a front shoulder from another injury. He's still plenty fast enough and can run all day though, regularly does 20 + k on the quad no sweat. And that's one of our few flat fields! It's all hills here boyo! Quote Link to post
trenchfoot 4,243
Jai, just watched it again and can see that back leg , is there nowt that you can do about it? But what struck me was the overall balance between head, front quarters, back and rear quarters. A lot of whippets I've seen have had excessive head rock and weak fore quarters. One of mine has a damaged to it back end and regular massage and stretching keeps it at bay. That way it stops that imbalance working back up through his structure Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
It was the result of that mate, he's very lucky to have four legs, so I can live with what he's got, and to be honest he has just adjusted a bit. I give him a good rub down, and massage with some liniment, and he's due in with the bone man again soon, to pull him about. He's never been a fast whippet anyway, he's just real powerful, but as he's a whippet, even lacking a bit of his speed. . . . he's still quicker than anything he needs to catch. He's doing about 30mph at the end of the video, and he can go a bit more if he needs to Cheers for the comments, he's a handy enough dog Quote Link to post
trenchfoot 4,243
Fair play Jai, that's a fair old knock he took! Personally I'd still be tempted to look at some remedial massage programme to keep things at bay. A bone man may help, depends on their approach to treatment Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
Yer, that's it, it's just a case of trying to slow down the arthritis! Quote Link to post
