Outlaw Pete 2,224
Looks like a Willow Warbler to me, mate. Bit grim that he wasn't moving. Little buggers are summer migrants to here and, dependent on the precise time of year, it's quite possible he'd only just made it here. Had given all he'd got in the process. And was simply sat there, fading away, without the strength to feed himself.
norseman 424
I sat water right in front of him and he had none of it, but later flew to the fence and chirped away. seemed in fine form after 20 minutes or so it was around July/august
Outlaw Pete 2,224
July / August? Good lord! They'd just be seeing off any second broods then, as far as I recall. (I've rung my share of WW's nests). May well be then that I still wasn't so far from the truth ..... Could well have been simply knackered from the dawn till dusk business of ferrying food to that brood. That's what tends to show me WW nest sites. I can't hear them (Boss can. My ears are just Too f**ked) But, I tend to notice these little, green birds on lengths of elastic. They fly so far up a hedge. Then shoot back to the same spot Saying that; Actually pin pointing the egg cup of a nest, even when ye know it's within a square yard, is f**king Murder! I tend to grass them up to my boss. He pin points them.
