Hi all im getting a bsa lightning as a project paying 40 for the rifle needs a new trigger spring which was in my previos post regarding how to fit it im now sorted on it.

What i did want to do was convert it to a .177

Someone said to me wouldnt bother as they shoot crap in .177

But is that true? I will be litterly gutting the whole rifle with all new seals polishing every internal part plus the trigger components will also get polished up.

What are your views on converting it to a .177 is it worth it?

Thanks in advance

the gun can be shot accurately in 177 but the gun has a lot of recoil and a heavy trigger (mine has a heavy trigger I think they all do ) .When shooting the gun this has to be allowed for .With a lot of practice the gun can be shot accurately I would think 22 is not that different .I would not bother changing your barrel .The expense for one also if you look the lightning it is just banged to gether .the pin that holds the barrel in place must be tapered I think , they come loose and can become a problem I have read so if your barrel is working leave it alone .If you want a 177 get another gun hw 95 or 97 ect .I would not put to much time and money into a lightning ,I have spent time and money on mine ,a gas ram waste of time I have fitted a spring and a tight spring guide and top hat ,the gun now shoots nice but a basic 97k shoots loads better because it is a better gun .If you get your gun shooting nice stop there keep it as a spare gun . if you want a better gun get a better gun it will be cheaper and better .changing the barrel may open a big can of worms . I have never taken my barrel of my lightning it might not be a big deal someone may tell you more.
