youcanthide...BANG 1,051
Me and hawkingyorkshire was invited out with a mates gos for a mornings ferreting. First two bolts produced no rabbits, the gos hit them both but didnt pin them. Next few bolts didnt produce a slip as the rabbits ran the the hedge. Then one bolt produced the only rabbit of the day. Not a cracking flight but was ok 1 Quote Link to post
Outlaw Pete 2,224
I was once talking to a very experienced Nest Recorder and mentioned how I suspected Goshawks could be nesting in a given area. " Easy to tell. " He said. " Just look out for a sparrowhawks nest the size of a small car. " Faaaaaark!!! 1 Quote Link to post
pointer 543
At least you got out, I travelled for an hour only to be met by very strong wind. I came home and went out locally but the wind was still pretty bad and anyway apart from a scrap with a squirrel in some ivy nothing much happened. The squirrel escaped lol. There's no chance of flying mine tomorrow we are getting rain and sleet all day. The weather is killing me, I need to find big woods to fly in to try and get out of the wind. The gos looks well. 1 Quote Link to post

pointer 543
Unless circumstances change I can't see me moving away from the Harris Hawk and I have so much more to achieve with the Harris yet but I'd like to see a goshawk in action as well as other birds of prey so I think next season I'll try and get out with someone who owns one. Nothing would stop us from flying a gos and then my Harris so it's not like mine would miss out on the days hunting. Quote Link to post
youcanthide...BANG 1,051
has she been flown to hare mate? Not that im aware of, her previous owner was my mentors son and he used her mainly for just car hawking crows, ive seen some cracking flights this way with her. but hes sold her to another one of our mates as he is getting a male goldie in august so he wont have time for her. I will try get some vids of her in action Quote Link to post
